WESSON – Seven outstanding sophomores on Copiah-Lincoln Community College’s Wesson campus have been named to the college’s Hall of Fame, the highest honor that can be given a Co-Lin student. During the college’s Annual Awards Day, Copiah-Lincoln President Dr. Howell C. Garner announced the 2008 Hall of Fame recipients are Rachel Blair and Jake Godard, both of Brookhaven; Amber Bowman of Wesson, Margaret Howard of Smithdale, Meleah Brown of Bogue Chitto, Joseph Summers of Monticello, and Michelle Trest of Hernando.
Rachel Blair Rachel Blair is a graduate of Bookhaven High School. She serves as president of the Student Government Association and is a member of the President’s Council, Trailblazers, Phi Theta Kappa (enhanced member), Sigma Kappa Delta, and the Baptist Student Union. Blair was selected to Who’s Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges, Campus Favorite, and sophomore homecoming maid. A Taylor Presidential Scholar, she plans to major in chemical engineering at Mississippi State University. She is the daughter of Charles and Alicia Blair of Brookhaven.
Amber Bowman Amber Bowman is a graduate of Wesson High School. She serves as president of the African American Studies Club and the President’s Council, vice president for service for Phi Theta Kappa, and vice president of the sophomore class. Bowman is a member of the Trailblazers, Sigma Kappa Delta, and Phi Beta Lambda. She is the recipient of the John Vernon and Allyene Pitts Williams Memorial Scholarship and the John “Jack” Johnson Scholarship. A member of the Lady Wolves soccer and softball teams, Bowman was selected to the MACJC All-State Soccer Team, the NJCAA All-Region 23 Soccer Team and was the 49th leading scorer in soccer in 2006. She was also selected to Who’s Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges and Miss Co-Lin. A psychology major, Bowman plans to attend Jackson State University. She is the daughter of Sandra and Jesse Bowman of Wesson.
Meleah Brown Meleah Brown is a graduate of Bogue Chitto High School. She serves as sophomore class president and is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, President’s Council, and the Judicial Council. Brown is a member the Lady Wolves softball team where she was selected MACJC All-Division, All-State, and NJCAA All-Region 23. She was also selected to Who’s Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges, 2007 homecoming queen, freshman homecoming maid, and Campus Favorite. Brown plans to attend Mississippi State University majoring in elementary education and coaching. She is the daughter of Perry and Vasie Brown of Bogue Chitto.
Jake Godard Jake Godard is a graduate of Brookhaven High School. He serves as vice president for leadership for Phi Theta Kappa, sophomore class secretary and photographer for The Wolf Tales. Godard is a member of the Sojourners, Sigma Kappa Delta, Phi Beta Lambda, Concert Choir, and the Blue Wave Show Band. He was selected to Who’s Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges, Mr. Co-Lin, and Business Student of the Year. An honors list student, Godard received a leadership scholarship and the Russell Ellzey Scholarship. He plans to attend the University of Southern Mississippi majoring in business with emphasis in finance and real estate. He is the son of Scott and Celia Godard of Brookhaven.
Margaret Howard A graduate of Franklin County High School, Margaret Howard serves as president of the Baptist Student Union and is secretary/treasurer of the President’s Council. She is also a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the Ambassadors and the Colettes. A Taylor Presidential Scholar, Howard was selected to Who’s Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges and is a President’s List student. She plans to major in elementary education at Mississippi College. Howard is the daughter of Marvin and Susan Howard of Smithdale. Joseph Summers A graduate of Lawrence County High School, Joseph Summers serves as president of Phi Theta Kappa and is the PTK Louisiana Regional Representative. He is a member of the President’s Council, Phi Beta Lambda, Alpha Omega, and Sigma Kappa Delta. Summers is a Dean’s List student and the recipient of the B.B. Turnage Scholarship. He was selected to Who’s Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges. Summers plans to major in business administration at Millsaps College. He is the son of Rachel Davis and Lee Summers of Monticello.
Michelle Trest Michelle Trest is a graduate of Hernando High School. She serves as the Mississippi state president for Phi Beta Lambda, vice president for communication for Phi Theta Kappa, and editor of The Wolf Tales. Trest is a member of the President’s Council, Sigma Kappa Delta, Martial Arts Club, Microcosm, Trailblazers, and Diamond Dolls. A Dean’s List student, she was also selected to Who’s Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges. Trest plans to attend the University of Southern Mississippi majoring in communications. She is the daughter of Eddie and Sheri Trest of Hernando. |
